Supervised Visitation & Safe Exchange Program
Family Support Center at the Polish American Association (PAA) provides different types of supervised parenting services that include supervised visitation, therapeutic visitation, and safe exchange. Supervised Visitation is a monitored visit between a non-custodial parent/relative and a child. Supervised visits are designed to assure that a child can have safe contact with a visiting parent without having to be put in the middle of the parent’s conflicts or other problems. Therapeutic Visitation is similar to Supervised Visitation, except that the professional third party is a certified clinician who can provide limited therapeutic intervention during the visits. Safe Exchange is a supervision or monitoring of the transfer of the child from one parent to an-other with the remainder of the visit unsupervised. In these situations, extra precautions are taken to ensure that the individuals exchanging the child do not come into contact with one another. Family Support Center provides safe, neutral and friendly surrounding that would encourage healthy interaction between supervised parent/relative and a child. We make every effort to help your child to enjoy the visit and offer parenting support for both parents. Supervised visitations can be ordered by judges or interested parties to help families as they go through difficult and/or transitional times.
The ultimate goal of the program is to empower parents to work through their issues so they are able to interact with their child in an unsupervised setting.
